A photo of Christina Ricci dressed as Morticia has caused an Addams Family-related frenzy on the internet.
In the 1991 film adaptation of The Addams Family and its 1993 follow-up, Addams Family Values, Christina Ricci successfully played the role of Wednesday Addams. Still, these days, she appears to be more like the matriarch of the wholly eccentric family.
The actress, who played Wednesday in the 1991 and 1993 films, would be shocked by the picture.
An image purportedly of Christina Ricci as Morticia Addams from The Addams Family garnered a thunderous “Cara mia!” from the internet on Monday.
The problem was that Ricci would have been as shocked as anyone to see herself dressed that way if she had seen the picture.
A little investigative work by Yahoo! Movies revealed that the picture was altered using a promotional photo of Anjelica Huston as Morticia Addams from either the 1991 film The Addams Family or the 1993 follow-up Addams Family Values.
After posting on this Tumblr, the picture appears to have gained prominence online.
In both films, Ricci played Wednesday, Morticia’sMorticia’s daughter. However, despite the Photoshopped image, many fans believed that Ricci, 35, could still convincingly portray the matriarch of the Addams family.
In the ”60s-era TV program adaption, which was initially influenced by Charles Addams’Addams’ 1940s-era artwork, Ricci, 35, and Huston, 64, played goth mom and daughter.
Ricci spoke candidly about the iconic role in April 2014, stating that she never found it difficult to move on from the part when looking for new employment.

People adore Wednesday, but I would also adore that persona, so I’ve never really made an effort to get rid of it.’‘
Since Anjelica Houston played Morticia Addams in an old promotional photo, the image of actress Christina Ricci dressed as her character’s adult self—very similar to her on-screen mother, Morticia—is a fake; it was created using Photoshop and the actress’s old promo photo.
This means that a reboot is not imminent but still a little unbelievable.
